Tuition & Costs

As an online student, you’ll pay the same affordable online tuition rate whether you’re earning your degree across the street or across the country.

Your total tuition will depend on your degree program and, if you’re earning a bachelor’s degree, the total number of courses you need to complete your degree.

What is flat-rate tuition?

Flat-rate tuition is the exclusive tuition rate for UL Lafayette online students and includes access to athletics events, online library services, career services, Microsoft Office 365, and IT Support.

You won’t be charged out-of-state fees or fees for on-campus services and benefits, so if you’re interested in using the recreation center, on-campus health care, childcare, intramural sports, or transportation, you’ll want to explore our Campus Connection Plan

For most online degree and certificate programs, flat-rate tuition is set at $380 per credit for undergraduate courses and $480 per credit for graduate courses.

Are there additional costs or fees?

Expect to buy or rent a textbook for online courses where they are required. Many online courses – including all of our MBA courses – use Open Educational Resources, which are quality learning materials offered at no additional cost to you.

Some online courses may require that you access proctoring services like ProctorU for exams. UL Lafayette's accreditor, SACS-COC, requires the University to verify the identity of online students through secure logins or proctored exams. Authenticating your identity protects the integrity of our online degree programs and ensures that your degree carries value in the professional world.

Online students will also see a Distance Learning fee on their tuition statement. This fee is included in the flat-rate tuition rate outlines above but is listed separately on your statement. The fee goes to the E-Learning Support Fund, which helps grow hybrid and online courses by supporting electronic library collections, student services, course design improvements, and IT projects that make online learning possible.

  • Undergraduate hybrid (HY) and online (OL) courses: $30 per credit hour
  • Graduate hybrid (HY) and online (OL) courses: $50 per credit hour
